Heuristic Evaluation

Heuristic Evaluation
Heuristic Evaluation Process:
A heuristic evaluation method was used for analyzing the design of the user interface. Experts in the field of human factors engineering were asked to participate on evaluating the scenarios. Participants were asked to interact with the prototype and provide their heuristic evaluation on the user interface and user interaction. They were also asked to think about the intuitive interaction design of alerts and provide their feedback on a scale of 1-10 (1 being very low/poor and 10 being very high/good) on the factors that align with the principles of intuitive interaction. They were also asked to fill out a post-questionnaire on factors related to usability, intuitive interaction design, and user experience. Based on this process, i started redesigning Citrix product.
Role and Result :
We mainly focused with the nielsen’s 10 principles and asked our experts to deal with the principles and asked to give the feedback by using sticky notes to paste it on the screen.
Results :
Based on the heuristic evaluation, the overall score to determine intuitive interaction was 7.5 on a scale of 1-10. This indicates that the prototype design was very good from an expert heuristic evaluation. Using everyday terms, metaphors, and simple language helped the user better understand how to use the app. Also users gave positive feedback for the color scheme used in the different level priority alerts. Colors can give the user an understanding of what is happening without conscious processing. Some negative feedback was that the screens seemed to be cluttered and small.
The post questionnaire was used to gather more information from the participants to support the responses in the heuristic evaluation, and results are shown. As seen, the average score was well above the average for the different aspects of user experience, intuitive interaction, and usability.
